Designer - Ronald Knol

It's all about personality, for both human and furniture. In many cases, I try achieve interesting furniture by combining clear lines with soft shapes. The 'caress-factor' of the product is essential. It is a compliment for me when people can't resist touching the furniture.

Next to this factor, the relation of the various components is crucial, with the aim to create a well-balanced item. In my search for the ideal relations, I am often inspired by the members of the movement 'De Stijl', and Rietveld in particular. It is a complicated puzzle, playing with millimeters. Sometimes, you even don't see the difference, but you can indeed feel it. In many cases, this is the difference between a good and a bad design.

Furniture studio - RKNL

RKNL is founded in 2005 by Ronald Knol. Under the label of RKNL, both furniture for collections and custom-made furniture are designed. In the latter case, the impact of the environment is taken into consideration as well.

Collectief
RKNL has taken the initiative together with designer Marc Th. van der Voorn (www.aanuit.nl) to create the design collective K7. In an old hangar at Kovelaarstraat 7, The Netherlands a creative centre came into existance by combining the expertise of a photographer (Stephan van Leiden), an architect (Yvo Ruiters) and a graphic designer (Paul Bos). All members within K7 are independent, creative entrepreneurs, with the result that K7 has become an inspiring place.
